I too have stopped using my credit card altogether unless a dire emergency. I am sick and tired of being punished by all the banks imposing fees and high interest rates. It's all such a sham and a hard kick in the face for being their customer. If any other industry did what they do to their customers so many businesses would have lost more customers during these hard times than what has already happened to them during this recession. As a paying taxpayer it makes me sick about what the "fat cats" do in the banking industry with their addiction to GREED. In my opinion they would be doing more for themselves and all their customers if they would learn to stop doing business the way they have been, especially since the American taxpayer has bailed them out of the troubles they got all of us in to start with. Their lack of caring for all will only end up working against them with more of us refusing to do business with them whether it is credit card use or any of their other products. It makes me sick to know Bank of America is now my mortgage lender and their is nothing I can afford to do about it right now to change it. Karma will get back to them in the end for all their wrong doing, its just a matter of time. I hope more customers can stop doing business with the banks that are responsible for all that has happened and then maybe they will change their way of doing business. It pisses me off they have the gall to keep "putting it to" Americans during a time when they could be doing more good than harm to all including themselves in the long run. I say Boycott all of them and do all you can to avoid any business with them for a very long time. Maybe they will then be forced to change for the better once they see we all mean business with these issues in large numbers.

I am paying cash for almost everything. In January, I will pay ALL my cards down to 1% and sock-drawer them for three months. Sounds insane, yes--but I'm fed up. I worked HARD to restore my credit, earned a 10.9% rate on my main card, then had it jacked up to 17.9%. I can't get one big card from B of A (my main bank AND now mortgage-holder) to balance-transfer all the little ones onto, so I'll just finance my 0% interest myself. B of A penalized me to the tune of $160 in cascading penalties and fees EVEN THOUGH I made a deposit to cover a very small error. I'm sick of it and sick of them. Did you see that, when the old evil B of A president left, the preferred stock got something like $17+ per share dividend?!... I'm hoping the new bank prez is better, but he has to prove it to me. By the way, if I can cough up $500-1000 to refi my 6.75% mortgage, they'll be happy to save me a whopping $36 or so a month. I have never been late and never missed a mortgage payment.
