I had sent the email regarding credit card abuses and received the usual canned response from Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson.

I realize that she receives numerous emails and must send the same response to constituents... nothing personal toward her individually.

Not that it will make any difference, but as as FYI, below is my response to Senator Hutchinson’s response:

Dear Senator Hutchinson,

I don't wish to seem disrespectful, but your response sounded all well and good until I read your statement, "The provisions of the Credit CARD Act will go into effect no later than February 22, 2010."

If you and other members of congress truly cared, why wasn't H.R.627 put into affect retroactively, effective February 22, 2009? With all due respect, I assert that giving the credit card companies & banks ample time to rape, rob & pillage Americans even further, is a sham.

You also stated, "As American families take actions to weather this economic recession, they are increasingly faced with overcoming another challenge: unreasonable practices employed by credit card companies.”
Undoubtedly, our well educated Representatives in Washington aren’t so gullible to believe that the many unreasonable practices won’t continue to occur from now until February 22, 2010. Common sense says that the money changers will gouge relentlessly in preparation for 2010.

So sad that care & prudence towards taxpaying American citizens just doesn’t seem to matter much… give us a little here, take a whole lot from us there. Americans aren’t stupid, just powerlessly at the mercy of our elite government officials. My life is two thirds over, government decisions won’t have a long term affect on me, but I grieve deeply for future generations.
