It turns out that the TJX (owners of large retailers TJ Maxx and Marshalls) data breach reported in January has set the record for the largest number of stolen credit card numbers.
Thieves worldwide have been using stolen credit card information resulting from the TJX breach, and now we have come to discover there are more people affected than previously reported.
Although it's taken about a year and a half to hear about this massive data breach of personal information, we may have never know without data security notification laws. California was the first state to pass such a law, and now 34 other states and the District of Columbia have notice of data security breach laws. Now Congress is deciding what to do...make sure you know each and every time your sensitive personal information has been lost or stolen by companies like TJX.
